From dog walkers to cat room cleaners, and dishwashers, and reception, to offsite events, we would love your help with just about everything!
Most volunteer opportunities are available daily and some require as little as a one hour a day commitment.
We need volunteers who can commit to a regular schedule of coming in to walk dogs, clean rooms, help with clerical work, transport animals, and a number of other areas.
We are also looking for people that we can call on an as-needed basis to help with mailings, special events, pet transportation and pet fostering.
Whether you are able to commit to a schedule, or would like to be on stand-by, we would love to hear from you.
Below are a few of the outreach programs and volunteer opportunities that we currently have available. If you see one that is dear to your heart and you would like to help out with please contact us at (207) 236-8702 or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org
All volunteers must be 16 years old to volunteer without a parent.
We are looking for people interested in fostering our kittens, cats, puppies, dogs, and occasionally special needs animals. Periodically the shelter takes in more animals than we can handle. During these times we need assistance with caring for these little furballs.
Once a month we rescue animals from the south. We need drivers to go to Scarborough and pick up the dogs who arrive on the transport vans. Drivers need to have a vehicle that is temperature controlled and can accommodate 2-4 crated dogs. P.A.W.S. provides the crates.
Are you a youth under 16? You can volunteer with a parent. Download the Volunteer Guide to see how.
Do you have a group who wants to visit the shelter? Download the Volunteer Guide and see how P.A.W.S. can best accommodate your groups visit.
